As Seen On Food Network

A former hairstylist from New York City, I never imagined I'd end up competing on a Food Network stage against 99 other home cooks. But that's exactly what happened when I was selected for 100 Cooks, Food Network's largest home cook competition ever. Here's the story of how I got there.
From Hairstylist to Home Cook
For over a decade, I worked as a hairstylist in New York City, specializing in hair extensions and weaves. It was a career I was proud of. But after becoming a mother in April 2023, I made the choice to step back from salon work so I could be present for my daughters. I had no idea that decision would lead me somewhere I never expected.
How HomeCookVibe Began
In November 2023, a friend recommended a recipe to me. I tried it, I loved it, and I posted it online without a second thought. That one video went on to rack up 17 million views — and just like that, HomeCookVibe was born, completely by accident. What started as sharing simple weeknight meals for my own family turned into a community of people who just wanted real, cozy food that tastes like home.
Making the Final 8
When Food Network reached out about 100 Cooks, I almost said no. I doubted whether I was really "home cook" enough to belong on that stage next to 99 other incredibly talented cooks. My husband talked me into applying anyway — and I'm so glad he did. I made it all the way to the final 8 before I was eliminated during a breakfast round in the finale.
"I showed up as my full self, and I cooked from my heart."
I didn't take home the title, but holding my own against 99 other incredible home cooks is one of the proudest moments of my life.

What's Next
Being part of 100 Cooks reminded me why I started sharing recipes in the first place: because food brings people together, and simple, honest cooking has real power. I'm back in my own kitchen now, cooking up new weeknight dinners for you every week — and I'd love for you to stick around.
With love,
Kim
