(Preferred Method)
Step 1: Prep the Oven & Rolls
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Separate the sweet rolls and arrange them evenly on the pan.
Step 2: Make the Custard In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Brush or spoon the custard over each roll, letting it soak in slightly without oversaturating. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top.
Step 3: Bake
Bake uncovered for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway through if you want more even browning. The rolls should be golden outside and soft inside.
Step 4: Brown Sugar Finish While the rolls are still warm, toss them gently in the brown sugar cinnamon mixture or sprinkle it generously over the top.
Step 5: Serve Serve immediately with maple syrup or a light dusting of powdered sugar.
If you want crispier edges:
Dip rolls into the custard mixture for 10–12 seconds per side. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook rolls, turning gently, until golden on all sides (about 6–8 minutes total). Toss warm rolls in brown sugar cinnamon and serve.
